Hello,
I am working on a solution to to add new data to an existing dataset that reports metrics weekly based on a task done within each store in my divison.
The new data is updated automatically every monday. However, my divison has requested this data be delivered to us by thursday so it can be acted on quickly. The data is received through sharepoint and is compiled in an excel workbook and sent out.
I have succeeded in automating this process mostly but I would like to integrate my work completely into the model that already exists so that when I add the new data, it also adds the corresponding week. See example below.
In this case, I have a way of showing the new data already, but would like it also to be added into this table as "P8W3" I am sure they upload the new data into a specific portion of the data set so that it translates through to the rest of the model. My thoughts are that if I can isolate this column or table, and use power query to shape the data from the work book I use to add the new data weekly, then I can "trick" the model into adding in the new coinciding week, so to to speak.
Im not sure if this has to do specifically with how they have the incremental refresh set up as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated! I have added a few pictures of the model below.
The existing model is in blue. My model is in orange. I have a relationship established between their date table and one of my tables. Which is the first picture you see above.
The new data is uploaded throught the table seen below.
I have a few Ideas of what I need to do differently. Any insight would be helpful! if more details are needed I can provide them.
Thank you!
@Anonymous Having some issues following exactly what is going on here. However, if you had a column that lists the values for P8W3 values for example you should be able to simply put that column in the Columns field well for your Matrix visualize and as new values appear in that table they will be added to the matrix visual automatically. So, you *may* have to unpivot some columns in your dataset. Again, it's really hard to understand without knowing what the data is.
Sorry, having trouble following, can you post sample data as text and expected output?
Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
