When trying to connect to a sharepoint folder.
Data then Get Dara then SharePoint folder. The sharepoint green icon comes up on the login tab in the middle of the screen.
Half the time the Sharepoint will not connect for hours. Then suddenly it connects again.
My production at the office is drastically behind and I am desperate to get this sorted. This kind of flakey connection is really weird.
Most of the time I can access a single excel file using the Web connector. Using exactly the same credentials
I am using the first part of the url to get onto the folders in SharePoint. Https://greatsomething.sharepoint.com/sites/Assets
I have noticed that working from the company premises and from my home office the results are the same. From 17.30 in the afternoon for about 2 hours the connectivity seems to get worse.
The company issued me a new good spec laptop. It worked 100% on day 1. Overnight something changed and I couldn't access teams or email or anything to do with 365. I was told that this would sort itself out over the next hours. 48 Hours later I could get onto everything perfectly. However the refusing to connect and invalid token just persists. I normally sign in using the organisational account. Windows current credentials say "can't authenticate". Microsoft account says I'm not signed in. I select the corporate account from the drop down the circle of dots stands dead still for many minutes and then fails. Giving invalid token. Please contact your IT administrator if this persists.
I hope someone has the answer. The management is saying nobody else is having problems. Maybe nobody else is using PowerQuery or Power BI and connecting to data via the Web connector and sharepoint folder connection. Thanking people in this community for looking into this issue.

Hi @TIMPULLEN ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum about the issue you are encountering.
After reviewing the provided information, I have outlined a few steps that may help resolve the issue.
1.Try clearing your saved credentials and re-authenticate it.
2.Clear your browser cache and cookies, they sometimes may cause connectivity issues.
3.Ensure that your company's firewall or security settings are not blocking access to SharePoint.
4.Sometimes, the token used for authentication might expire or invalid.Check your token is up-to-date.

My colleague doesn't use power BI or Power Query. I asked her to open a new Excel on sharepoint I then gave her the sharepoint url (Rootpath) she clicked on fetch data, from SharePoint directory. "Bam" instant connection and no password or anything.
How is it possible that my system which is the same model laptop built from the same MicroSoft image will not log on?
Most of the time I can access a single excel file using the Web connector.
For any content that is stored on Sharepoint you should prefer the SharePoint Folder connector. The Excel Web connector will give you these kinds of issues especially on the Power BI Service.
Hello thanks for your reply. In my original post I wrote this
"When trying to connect to a sharepoint folder.

So I believe I am doing as your kind suggestion. The drop down in the centre of the screen has the green sharepoint icon.
When I use the Web connector to get single files the authorising drop down has the little icon of the world.
Sharepoint seems to be a very unstable platform that Microsoft has built.
Please re read my post and see if anything comes to mind.

I would like to disagree with you on that but it is hard 🙂
Nevertheless - it has been mostly stable for us when used correctly. Instead of SharePoint.Files you can also use SharePoint.Contents and if you experience issued during data pull you can disable chunking by using Binary.Buffer (especially useful for very large files).
Thanks for that kind info.
