Hi. I have an excel spreadsheet happily using this function on my old Windows 10 machine. e.g.
= Web.BrowserContents("https://www.metalsdaily.com/live-prices/")
I just got a new Win 11 machine and this spreadhseet no long updates due to the Web.BrowserContents function not being recognised. I can see my Win10 machine has Microsoft Edge Webview2 runnning in task manger, but not on my Win 11 machine so guessing thisis the issue. I've tried repairing Webview2 and rebooting but no differnece.
Any idea if firstly the Webview2 is the issue with this function and secondly how do I get it running?
Much appreciated
Mike

Wierdly the solution was ot update my excel version on the old machine so it was newer than the new machine. Open the file and save it then open under the older version and it al lworked. So somethnig related to compatability

Hi masplin,
i have the same problem. On my old computer everything works fine in Excel (Version 2406). But on my VM (Version 2407) it doesnt. If i got you right the only solution could be not to update my excel, right?
So my situation was I had a Win10 machine running some older version of excel. i got a new Win 11 machine for work and installed all the latest versions so my excel version was newer than the exisitng machine. The excel file waslast saved in the older version and then woudnt run in the newer version. The solution was to update excel on the old machine which was actually an even newer version, save the file and then it would run on the Win11 machine.
So basically you need to save the file that is working using the latest version of excel before moving it to a new machine. I dont know what the implications are if you have just upgraded excel on a single machine and now it stopped working. Maybe it was a bug in that version of excel. Version I have now is 2408 17928.20114
So i have to update my version from 2406 to 2407 (latest version in Germany). Than i save the file and it should work on my VM, who already is on the latest version, right?
But maybe you are right and i have to wait for Version 2408, when its a bug in 2407. But we will see that
Installation failed as Microsoft Webview2 already installed . It doesnt seem possible to uninstall it only repair it. So its installed but isnt running as a program in task manager.
If you have a Pro license you can open a Pro ticket at https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/newsupportticket/powerbi
Otherwise you can raise an issue at https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues .
The problem is Pro support is for Power BI and my issue is in Excel . I'll try them, but they may not help
