Store data source

I am creating a dashboard for my client on my computer, and he is using a different network.

Any recommendation on how I should store the underlying datsa sources? Right now they are on my computer, and I update the dashboard.  Should I keep them in a separate PowerBI sharepoint folder?  Or is it best if I develop a dashboard on a computer within his network?

@grcooper,

Why you should grant access to the user on the Excel files? You can create report using the Excel files and share the report to the user. The user doesn't need to have access to the Excel files.

Lydia

@grcooper,

What is the underlying data source of the dashboard? Do you set schedule refresh for the dataset in Power BI Service?

In your scenario, why not directly share the dashboard to your client? As long as the client signs in his Power BI Service, he should be able to view the dashboard and report you shared.

Hi Lydia,

I am using excel files to update the dashboard on my computer. My client works for the government and has a different network, so he won't have access to the excel files unless I send them to him. Would I have to use a computer in his network for him to have access to the excel files, or there is a SharePoint PowerBI file that I could upload them to using my own computer. Thank you for any advice.

Regards,

Greg
