SQL Express and Power BI Gateway

Hi guys,

I'm about to do my first Power BI project. My client has a SQL Express solution and I was just wondering if the Power BI gateway is compatible with SQL Express? Would be nice to know before I start building the report.

@Thomasnplus,

You are able to add SQL express data source within gateway. Please make sure that you are able to connect to the SQL express instance from the machine that installing gateway.

Also ensure that you use same connection strings(server name and database name) to connect to your SQL database in Power BI Desktop and gateway. There is a article for your reference.
