Hi @Manuka

You can follow the recommended steps indicated in this article https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/sql-server#sql-server-certificate-isnt-trus...

Steps:

  1. Add environment variable with variable name PBI_SQL_TRUSTED_SERVERS and *.contoso.com* as the variable value (change contoso.com to FQDN of your organization)
  2. Click 'OK' to save your changes
  3. Reboot your device.
  4. Open Power BI Desktop and clear permissions for the data source, go to File > Options  and Settings > Data source settings.
  5. Select Get Data > SQL Server Database

Hope this would be helpful.

Best Regards,
Jing

If we are only utilizing Power BI Desktop, where do we modify to value for "PBI_SQL_TRUSTED_SERVERS"? Updating the gateway config file makes sense to me, but unsure where to modify envrionment variables for PBI desktop.

You do that in the advanced system settings dialog of your PC
