Referencing a cell in an IF statement

Hello,

I am trying to write an IF statement in DAX that will reference cells in a table. I want the syntax to read the next cell below it, calculate, and then spit out 1 or 0.

My data set is above. I want the syntax to read the first column, assign a 1 in a new column for the first row, then a 0 for rows 2 and 3, continuing on with 1, 1, 0, 0.

I have duplicates in the first column and I only want to count each combination of characters once.

Thank you all for you time and help.

Can't you just use the DISTINCTCOUNT function to get the result your looking for? This will only count the number of unique values in column1?

[Tip] Keep CALM and DAX on.
