Pushing data sets with on premises sql database

Hello,

I was wondering if an azure sql database is mandatory for streaming data to the power bi service.
In my case where we operate an on-premises sql database, i would like to know if a direct query connection is possible. Appreciate your assistance.

If you mean streaming dataset in Power BI Service, Azure SQL database is not mandatory.

In Power BI Service, you can query your SQL Server data and send the data to streaming dataset in Power BI Service using PowerShell. There is a similar thread for your reference.
