When trying to connect with an access Database it will give me the following error:
"The database you are trying to open requires a newer version of Microsoft Access"
I'm using access with Microsoft Office 2019 Professional Plus. Seems new enough to me.
Please help! Thanks
I'm leaving this here in case someone runs into the same issue.
I got the "The database you are trying to open requires a newer version of Microsoft Access" error because my Access database used the "Large Number" data type in one of the columns. I changed it to Text instead and it worked.
Apparently "Large Number" was introduced in Access 2016 and isn’t supported by older versions of the Access Database Engine that Power BI uses.

Hi @TopCurling ,
By my tests with the latest version of Power BI Desktop 2.68.5432.841 and Access 2016, I cannot reproduce your issue.
Please check if you have installed the latest version of Power BI Desktp and try again.
If you still have this issue, I'm afriad that may not be caused by version of Access.
Please have a look at this article which show us the solution for this kind of error. Please check if you hit this scenario.
Best Regards,
Cherry
