In my organsiation we use a lot of PowerQuery connections to Excel files on a SharePoint-Server (Accessed with organisational login). Some of my teammembers have repeatedly experienced the "Microsoft.Mashup.Engine.Interface.ResourceAccessForbiddenException" when trying to update the data connections. I realize this seems to be a common problem and the recommended solution in many forum posts is to reset the global permissions and try again.
This fix does in fact work for me and my team, but It's still a bit annoying to guide the affected users through the neccssary steps to reset their permissions every few months.
So I wanted to ask if anyone has found a permanent solution yet?
Hi and thanks for your reply! We're using PowerQuery to connect between Excel files in SharePoint online.
Where do you use Power Query when you have this issue? In Power BI Desktop, Excel, Power BI Dataflow or somewhere else?
You are connecting to onprem sharepoint server or sharepoint online? Note that if you connect to onprem sharepoint server, please use Windows or Anonymous authentication to connect. If Windows account does not work, you need to change your sharepoint server to allow windows authentication.
Kindly let me know if this helps.
