Power query connection Power Apps

Hi,

Since I am pretty new with this topic I think my problem is partly not understanding the features very well. However:

My PowerApps is ready and makes use of a Gallery with a connection to OneDrive to read info from a table within an Excel file. That works well.

The Excel file consists out of one table that was created using Power Query from another table in another file shared on Sharepoint. So:

Table in Excel file in Sharepoint (dynamic - changes daily) > Power Query (changing the format) > Table in Excel file on OneDrive.

I scheduled the refresh of that query to every 5 minutes but it doesn’t work. If changes take place in the Excel file on Sharepoint, they do not show in the Excel file in OneDrive.
Some observations:

- The “query” tab on top in Excel also disappeared - it seems like the table is no longer connecting to the query.

- When opening the query editor and refreshing preview, the data does get updated in the editor view. But when pressing “close and load”, no changes appear in the Table.

- A new column is added called “__PowerAppsid__”.

Can anyone help me making the connection work and ensuring PowerApps always receives the latest data?

thanks a lot in advance!

Hi @Syndicate_Admin ,

When you store a Power BI Desktop file on OneDrive or SharePoint Online, any data you’ve loaded into your file’s model is imported into the dataset. Once you save the file, Power BI service syncs with those changes too, usually within about an hour.

When things go wrong, it’s usually because Power BI can’t sign into data sources. Things may also go wrong if the dataset tries to connect to an on-premises data source but the gateway is offline. To avoid these issues, make sure Power BI can sign into data sources. Try signing into your data sources in Data Source Credentials. Sometimes the password you use to sign into a data source changes or Power BI gets signed out from a data source.

When you save your changes to the Power BI Desktop file on OneDrive and you don't see those changes in Power BI within an hour or so, it could be because Power BI can't connect to your OneDrive. Try connecting to the file on OneDrive again. If you’re prompted to sign in, make sure you select Keep me signed in. Because Power BI wasn't able to connect to your OneDrive to synchronize with the file, you’ll need to import your file again.

Be sure to leave the Send refresh failure notification email to me checked. You’ll want to know right away if a scheduled refresh fails.
