Power Bi Desktop and Service Integration

I currently use Power Bi desktop with multiple csv data sources.

The files are linked with relationships and I have quite a few useful queries added too. However I am looking at using the Power Bi service to publish data to other users, but at the minute I have to refresh the data in the desktop app then publish it to the online workspace.

This incorporates all the data from multiple files into a single data set, which works well.

Is there a way to then update the data within the dataset from the original csv's without manually publishing through the desktop app.

Adding the files as data sources in the web app doesn't work for me as I don't believe the relationships can be created in the web version.

So basically, I need to setup the relationships and queries in desktop. Publish the first time, then have the data auto up an update when source data is added without manual intervention.

Has anyone else tried this or have a solution.

@dtbrough,

Where do you store these CSV files? If you store the CSV files in local drive, you can use on-premises gateway to refresh your dataset in Power BI Service.

Install on-premises gateway on your machine, configure it and add all the CSV files within the configured gateway, make sure that the file paths match that paths you used in Power BI Desktop, then you are able to set schedule refresh for your dataset in Power BI Service.

Regards.
Lydia
