Power BI Query vs. Web version dataflow function log in issue

Hey Guys,

I have a problem with Power BI query and dataflow function under Power BI web version.

Basically, first picture is I am using the Power BI desktop version. using OData to feed my data base. There are four options for my log in "Anonymous", "windows", "Basic", "Organational accout", and "Web API"

I log in by Windows -> use alternate credentials log in I have been given by my company. It works perfectly fine! I have my data base pop out once I click connect! 😁

However, here is the issue comes😭

I try to use dataflows because I want to share output with rest of the company. And the second picture is I attached with Power BI web Version dataflow function. There isn't a option under Authentication kind choice.

log in choice only has "Anonymous", "Basic" and "Organational accout". I have tried to use "Basic" and "Organization account" none of them work. It all says my credtional log in is incorrect.

So, I went back to Power BI desktop version, try to use "Basic" or "Organizational account" log in based on my credtional log in and of course it did not successed. But "Windows" log in always do successed with my log in.

Question: what is really the difference the "Windows" log in and "Basic" log in??? Aren't they all the credtional log in for the URL?

One of them working and the other not.

Why we don't have the option as "windows" -> using alternate credentials to log in.

OR another way to ask it, what is "Basic" Log in, for example, if I were to ask for the log in from the web developers in the company who build those URL through Java/PHP. What should I say to them to ask for the log in? I guess they will tell me them already give me the log in that I load data to my Power BI yesterday successfully!....🤔🤔🙄🙄

Serious HELP QUESTION!!!!

Hi @Anonymous ,

We can create a gateway to use the Windows authentication for OData Feed Connector in Dataflow:

Based on my research, Windows authentication authenticates the user by validating the credentials against in a the windows domain, the basic authentication verifies the credentials that are provided in a form against the user account that is stored in a database.
