Hello,
I've got a data set that is huge, so I need it to load after parameters have been entered, so I don't get the whole raw and uncut data set.
My goal is to drill-through from a parent report and pass on the same filters as parameters to a direct query in a separate PBI report. These reports will sit in the PBI report server.
I've been doing quite a lot of research on this topic and have come up with nothing. Is this at all possible?
Also, not looking for a cross-report drill through, because this would require me to preload this huge data set and then filter from there.

Hello @ v-alq-msft,
Your post did help me in my quest!
I set the target DB to Direct Query mode and used a measure in the source DB that concatinated the target DB's URL with URL filters.
I turned on the Web URL in the conditional formatting of the source DB and set it to the measure I created that used URL filters.
EX: https://TargetDashboard.?filter=Query/Table eq '"&SelectedValue[source slicer]&"'
I select the hyperlink in the source visual and boom, I'm sent to the target DB with all filters applied.
Thank you for your response, it shed a lot of light on my solution.

Hi, @tmendoza
I wonder if you are using import mode or DirectQuery mode. If it is an import mode, it is unavailable to load corresponding data after parameters have been entered. If it is a DirectQuery mode, it will query the data source with the applied parameters and load the specific result.
For import mode, the imported data will be queried when there are some changes to the visual. While for DirectQuery mode, it will send queries to the data source when there are some changes to the visual.
I'd like to suggest you refer to the document about differences between connection modes.
Best Regards
Allan
