Additionally, "Combine Binaries" creates a lot ( A LOT) of gruft that you don't really need nor want. Better to do that file contents append yourself. I have a blog entry on that somewhere if you are interested.

What are the source-type of the files you want to combine?
Also, to use "Combine Files", you first need to select a column that contains the file binaries (usually called "Content" with "Binary" values in each row). Is it still grayed out for you if you select your "Content"-column?
