We've captured the moments from FabCon & SQLCon that everyone is talking about, and we are bringing them to the community, live and on-demand. Starts on April 14th. Register now
My data are located on a public MySQL server.
Is there a way to enable direct data refresh, without using a Gateway, in the same way as I do for other data located on AWS Redshift ?
If not, what is the technical reason behind ?
I suspect that the technical reason behind it is that the service-based gateway does not support MySQL as MySQL is likely presumed to be local or not cloud accessible. For data sources that are presumed to be cloud accessible directly, those are supported by the service such as web pages, OData sources, Azure SQL DB, etc.
Maybe SQL server were not initally supposed to be "cloud accessible" but it is technically feasible.
The best example is that other BI solutions such as Tableau do offer this functionnality.
I am currently designing my system and I would need to know if this feature is offered or is on the roadmap, to choose the appropriate tools.
Thank you for your feedback
