Issue with Merge giving null result

Hello,

I am having an issue again with merge.... I have a query which has been been heavily transformed, which I want to merge to another through a key column.

Issue is - when I have the same text in both queries, exactly (no trailing spaces,...) and I still get a null reult when merging even though there is data in the referenced query.

What is weird is that, if I filter the referenced query for one of the values where I am getting the null result, then the merge works well!

So I thought it was maybe a buffering issue, so I buffered both tables before merging, but still it does not work.

Has this ever happened to any of you before? Do you have an idea what might be happening?

This is driving me quite crazy since a few days...

Hello, I found the issue! It was in my referenced query - there was an issue with the M code, which was removing some older dates. So when I was filtering for the instance only at the beginning of the referenced query, it was working. When I tried to filter for it at the end of the referenced query instead, I found that it was gone because of some filtering in previous steps. All good now 🙂 Thanks!

It may be helpful to take just your ke columns, append them into just one column, then Remove Duplicates. This should show you if the values really match. If you see your value twice (sort the column), then you have non matching values.
