Is it possible to connect the PBI desktop to a JDBC via ODBC JDBC bridge and if so are there any recommendations on bridges? I was unable to find anything within the site and I've already seen the suggestion to add JDBC connection so don't refer me there. Any help is much appreciated.
Hi John,
Not sure if you have tried ZappySys JDBC Bridge. Here is an example using Trino JDBC; the concept is the same. You can use any JDBC Driver in Power BI with this approach.

As you might know, Power BI doesn’t have JDBC connectivity, so with ZappySys JDBC-BRIDGE, you can connect any JDBC Driver data in Power BI or other non-Java apps like Excel, Crystal Report, Informatica, Python, etc.
Just point to Jar configure options as per your Jdbc driver requirements and connect Java driver in any ODBC apps like Power BI, Excel, MS Access, Informatica...
Configure ODBC DSN for ZappySys JDBC Bridge Driver
@john_neely,
There is no built in connector for JDBC data sources in Power BI Desktop, an idea has been submitted in this link, please vote it up.
In addition, do you want to add DSN for the JDBC source in ODBC data source administrator? If so, have you tried to connect to the DSN via ODBC data source in Power BI Desktop?
Regards,
Lydia
Hi there,
Any movement on this? I'm also in healthcare informatics, and lack of JDBC is killing our capability of switching to PowerBI from Tableau.
Thank you!
