Is it possible to search Power BI data tables and reports with excel.
Essbase had a plug in shown in links below that allowed users to work with Essbase Databases and reports in excel. Is there similar functionality with Power BI?

There is no such plug in in Power BI Desktop. However, in Query Editor of Power BI Desktop, you can use Pivot and Unpivot features, then in report view of Power BI Desktop, create a Matrix visual to show your data, you can also create measures in your tables to calculate sum,average and count.
