Dear community,
I'm quite new on Power BI.
I'm facing an end user request who wants Power BI (or something else) to create a new table inlcuding all the data from a data report which is also in power BI.
He wants to let people starting from this new table to create their own reports.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
@ManuVent the end user can export the data in excel/csv from pbi dashboard/report
@ManuVent It's also possible to connect a new Power BI report to an existing Power BI dataset.
It's even possible to write a DAX query against a Power BI dataset to return a specific table result (though this method is not appropriate for Power BI novices).
Can you give a bit more specifics about what you're trying to achieve?
Hi
Many thanks for your reply, I try to better explain.
We have a Power BI including 10 table with relation from a DB Instance. The report that has been created is textual including just the columns Management needs and several Measures.
Management asked to have this report avaible as Table in order to semplify to the other users the creation of new report also in Power BI. Only the column selected on the management data report can be shared with other people.
Hope I was able to clarify but please let me know if something is not clear
Thanks
Hmmm. This combination of requirements doesn't sound easy to achieve given that you're asking that it be in sync with the existing report and you can only expose part of the model.
If I had such a request, I might duplicate the original report, strip out everything that can't be shared, and upload that as a new dataset for users to connect to. I think it's actually more user friendly to have them connect to an existing dataset than some table, especially since a dataset can hold a proper star schema with measures and relationships rather than a flat table without any included measures.
Hi
First of all thanks for your reply.
The facts is that end users need to work on Poower BI new reports and the table coming from data report should be always updated reflecting exactly the data report.
