Index order changes from Power Query to Table view

Hi,

Im Power Query I sorted my data by 2 columns (PatientSite then Event Date) - then I added an Index column.

When in Power Query, the index column displays in the right order 1,2,3 etc - but after Applying and viewing the table in Table view, the order shows as 2,3,5,7,8

Is there any reason for this? I don't have any Sort by Column turned on in Table View

Power Query:

Table View:

index 2.png

Many thanks for any help!

There's no guarantee of order in the Data view of powerbi.  The order is determined by what's going on behind the scenes i.e. storage algorithms, hidden keys or other mysterious items.

You can order columns using the dropdown at the top of the column for investigative purposes
