Import table with filters from a web page

Hey guys,

Is there a way to import a table with filters on it? For example - the filter being for Cities - Chicago, Dallas, Las Veags and so on. I want to import the enite table with the filters.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi @dhairyashukla ,

I'm afraid it's unavailable.

If you connect to SQL server, you could filter data before the data is imported into PBI, you can click Get Data->advanced options and write some SQL statements to achieve data you want.

If you want to filter data from a web page, you could filter data in power query after imported.

I think we're thinking about different things.  If the web page is only showing the data on the page that is specified by the filter, perhaps the URL applies the filters, then you can get that data as is.

I'd need to see the website to check how the filtering works and understand what you mean.  Can you provide the URL?

regards

Phil

The url is - https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=9810002201

I wanted to import the first table which has the filter on for Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador and so on. Basically, I want to import the whole table (including the filters).

Hi @dhairyashukla

Possibly.  It depends on how the data on the webpage is presented after filters are applied.

If the filtered data is actually removed from the table, then you can load that table as is.  If the filtered data is merely hidden on the page, then doanloading the table will also download tis hidden data.

I'd need to see the website to check how the filtering works.  Can you provide the URL?

regards

Phil
