How to check query folding is properly done when connecting to Google Big Query under import mode?

Hi,

I am importing data from Google Big Query.

I read one of Microsoft Documentation and it described that Query Folding is also supported when getting data from Google Big Query. Does someone can give me some advice how to check whether query folding is properly done when connecting to Google Big Query?

Hi Jiwan, I am having the same issue.  I have tried every trick and tip in the book...and nothing works.  The only thing that sort of worked was setting the enablefolding=false, but then an error occurs when trying to load to the data model.

Hi,

While searching for achieving this, I learned that one of ways to check this is to go to Google Big Query and check the queries of my refresh in pbi service. If the end result of the query in Google Big Query is the same as the end result of the query in Power Query Editor, it is folded back. However, if the end result of the query in Google Big Query is not the same, it means that it is not folded back.

I hope I understood correctly.

Thank you.

Query folding indicators in Power Query - Power Query | Microsoft Learn

Thanks to the great efforts by MS engineers to simplify syntax of DAX! Most beginners are SUCCESSFULLY MISLED to think that they could easily master DAX; but it turns out that the intricacy of the most frequently used RANKX() is still way beyond their comprehension!

DAX is simple, but NOT EASY!

Hi, Thank you for your reply.

However, when I connect to Google Big Query, "View Native Query" in Power Query Editor or "View data source query" in Dataflow grayed out from the very first step (before I apply any transformation), and I cannot even consider which transformation steps I need to fix.

I am not sure, but am I doing something wrong when I connect to Google Big Query?
