How do you check to see if a query is linked to another file?
So far I only seem to be able to view the relationships between queries in the file I am working in, also if I try and delete a query that is referenced by another query in the same file I receive warning message that it cannot be deleted.
The same does not happen if a query is referenced by another file. Essentially I want to make sure a query is not used by another file before I delete it.
I am using PowerQuery to manipulate data for Excel stored in SharePoint, then have multiple files (also on SharePoint) feeding off the original files.
When I look in Existing Connections, under the Tables section, it does mention some tables in another file, but does not tell me which queries specifically these are linked to, is there a way to ascertain this?
Basically I want to check that a particular query is not used/linked to a query in another file before I delete it.
Any help greatfully received.
In addition to lineage, the PBI admin API will tell you the specific queries being used, too, but there's some assembly required to get that data.
I am assuming you are using a dataset. Check the lineage of the dataset in PowerBI service.
