How to add additional Salesforce Reports to an existing dataset based on Salesforce Reports

I have successfully created a dataset from multiple Salesforce Reports, and then created a report and Dashboard from the dataset.

I now have some new Salesforce reports that I would like to add to this dataset to include in the existing report and dashboard.

I can't see any way to add additional Salesforce reports to a dataset? Am I missing something or is it simply not possible?

@Anonymous,

In Power BI Service, it is  not possible to add additional salesforce reports to an exsiting dataset, I am afraid that you would need to create the dataset again.

Lydia

Hi @Anonymous were you able to find a solution? As a workaround, maybe you can connect PBI desktop directly to Salesforce objects connector which doesn't have that limitation you mentioned. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

SALESFORCE-2.png

 There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

@Anonymous,

Do you directly connect to Salesforce report in Power BI Service or in Power BI Desktop? In Power BI Desktop, you are able to connect to multiple data sources in same PBIX file, just click "Get Data->More->Salesforce report" to add additional tables you want.

I'm forced to use Power BI service (web) as I can't use Power BI Desktop due to the other issue I posted (only returning first 10,000 rows/reports, I have almost 20,000 reports, can't rename my reports, etc.)

Thanks for confirming that Lydia.

Disappointing that it requires creating a complete new dataset and there is no capability to add a new Salesforce report to an existing dataset. Hope that is something that can be considered as a feature in a future release as it really renders Power BI as a very limited solution for me to use with Salesforce.
