We've captured the moments from FabCon & SQLCon that everyone is talking about, and we are bringing them to the community, live and on-demand. Starts on April 14th. Register now
We have been trialing Power BI now for a couple on months and have sucesfully connected to a number of sources, built reports and published etc.
We can connect to our mysql database, manually refresh this via the desktop version, publish to power BI online and draw on this for reporting etc. We cannot however refresh the data once it is up in Power BI.
My understanding from reading the below forum post is that the issue is around teh amount of times Power BI hits the server (AWS), which then determines Power BI is a hacker and locks it out. As this does not appear to have a solution, is there a way to set up mysql on a hosted service that would allow refreshes?? If so how and which hosted service?
Any other suggestions would be a appreciated as the refresh needs to occur 4 times a day, which is very quickly becomming a tendious task.
@RFlintoff,
Do you host MySQL in amazon rds? Have you installed on-premises gateway and add the MySQL datasource within gateway?
Alternatively, you can use on-premises gateway(personal mode) to refresh the dataset, go to Settings->Datasets in Power BI Service, and find your dataset, directly enter credential under Data source credentials, then you are able to set schedule refresh for the dataset.

Lydia
