Google analytics 4 data discrepancies

Hello.

I know there is a thread on this topic on the total count, but here it's about taking a specific piece of data from GA4.

I got a row below in my report.

sessionSourceMedium: "google / cpc"

sessionManualCampaignName: "rt_bonus"

sessions: 1

In PBI, using connector 2.0(beta), I have got these three rows, with date including 22-26, Aug. But I cannot find a row with this combination.

There are 2 days buffer before and after the date from GA4, so the cause should not be time frames or time zone.

I have looked over all the related post I could find and asked to several AIs but did not any advice which actually solve this.

Best regards,

Hal

Hi @Halkiparis as a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party tool. I've tried windsor.ai, supemetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the GA4 connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your GA4 account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your GA4 fields:

GA4-2.png

There just select the fields you need. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

@Anonymous
Thank you for your reply! As for reducing the data amount, I assume it should be done before the data from GA flows into power query. Do you know how to do it?

Hi @Halkiparis
According to the official documentation, Google Analytics will only return a subset of values when the date range is very large. If you need more data, you can append multiple queries with different date ranges. If you're not sure what data to return to view, you can also use data event probing to get a quick idea of what to return. To make sure you're seeing the same data you get from Google Analytics, you can run your own queries in Google's interactive tools.
Some users report that reducing the amount of data requested in each query helps. For example, one user solved the problem by pulling only the past month's data and splitting it into multiple queries so that each request only requested 5 days at a time.
