Hi,
I am trying to import Local excel file into Power BI however continuosly getting an error as "Failed to publish Excel workbook".
Below are some technical details
Please suggest.
I have the same problem when I want to replace existing dataset after a few changes made localy. I can upload it as a new file without any problem, but replacing it cause this error message above.
It is frustrating, because I have already built a many reports above this dataset. And if I create new one, I would throw them all away 😞
Thanks,
Lubos
Small update:
I have found out that problem is when I have the same excel attached as PowerBI report as well as PowerBI data model. It cause that I cannot overide existing data model. Howerver when I remove PowerBI Excel report then model can be replaced using upload.
@Vishall verify you connection through Power Query. Try refreshing data and see if it works. If not then there is issue with your existing connection to data source and hence it fails when publishing to Power BI. Hope this is useful!
I would also make sure that your Excel file is less than 250MB and has no more than 10 reports.
Is your excel file open?, go to the task manager and verify that there is no process using your file.
Regards
