Excel does not "see" Dataset refresh

Hello,
We are using Office 365 for Enterprise.
From Excel, we go to Data / Get Data / from Power Platform / From Powerbi, and we select dataset that we want to use.

However, for some datasets, Excel does not register some of the refreshes (randomly).

On the screenshot below, right side is what excel sees for the "IOM_Sales Estimation" dataset, and on the left side is the info I get when I click the "View dataset in Power BI" (after "refresh all" is performed).

This problem persists for a few hours at time.

What can we do to push the refresh / make Excel register newer data?

Hi @Milejdi8 ,

Latest response:

-- The initial list of senmantic models that you see is based on the initial index. However, this index does not contain the latest metadata for the semantic model itself.  It may take up to 24 hours for the index to be refreshed.  This behavior is by design.
This is a harmless process. As long as the requested semantic model remains linked to the same location, the latest contents of the semantic model will be pulled from PowerBI and made available in Excel.

Hi @Milejdi8 ,

update:
The issue has been reported to the product group and engineers are working to investigate. I'll update below with any news.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I have reproduced such behavior.
I manually refreshed the semantic model on 2024-07-29, but it still shows the refresh time of 2024-07-28 in Excel. Upon further inspection I found that the dataset actually contains the latest data (2024-07-29) .

Excel connects to the PowerBI semantic model through Live-Connection mode at this point, and the query results should be the latest data in the semantic model.
Could you please try inserting a pivot table in Excel to check if it contains the latest data (either by checking the number of records in the fact table or the latest records)?

Gao
