DirectQuery - Merge Queries

Hello all!

I'm trying to create a composite model* in PBI and I'm having issues when trying to merge queries. I understand that the DirectQuery connectivity has some limitations in terms of manipulating data in PQ/PBI to avoid performance issues and I can see that merging queries is one of them. However, I was wondering if there is any "ways around" it or a different solution for merging queries? I don't think it's a privacy level issue as I tried both Organisational and Private already, so I think it's one of its limitations.

* Direct Query using tables from Dataverse and Excel tables either on the SharePoint or saved locally.

Any ideas/solutions?

Thank you,
Ana

There is no direct query against anything SharePoint, so that might be the cause of your issue? You can do joins in direct query if they're the same source and they support direct query.

You could have the SharePoint sources on import mode and just use a relationship between that and the Dataverse direct query source, though.

Hi Chris,

I did try having my table linked to shrepoint (which is a import mode) but also tried just as an excel file saved in my desktop, which is also a import.

One of the things I need to as well for one of the tables from the Dataverse is to split a column etc, which also doesn't work.

And i did try making the link btween the tables via relationship as well and that doesn't work.

Thanks,

Ana
