Hi all,
Thanks for reading my question, any help will be appreciated.
In the most recent data refresh run on my dashboard, Power Query has forced me to create a 'DirectQuery' connection when I clicked on Transform Data - I understand it is due to the size of my data. When folllowing the steps below, I ended up with "Queries [0]" on the left hand side panel after clicking "Transform data" again:
1. Select "Add a local model" in the "A DirectQuery connection is required" window pop up
2. Tick all the supporting tables and queries in the "Connect to your data" screen and click Submit
I can still see my queries in the model view but not in the "Transform data" screen. How can I re-connect all my queries?
Extra details:
- My data is stored in a folder in SharePoint
- When I click on "Data Source Settings", I can see "Direct Query to AS - Power BI Dataset; [name of my dsahboard]" under "Data source in current file", and two items under "Global permissions": 1) link to the folder where the data is stored in SharePoint 2) a link to powerbi://api.powerbi.com/v1.0 [name of my dsahboard]
Thank you!
Hi @PowerBiUser_91 ,
It looks like you're trying to use data via a Live Connection to a semantic model, as well as also bringing SharePoint data into your new model via Import. This is why PBI is forcing you to create a hybrid Direct Query (DQ)/Import model - data can only be Live Connection from another model if it's the only source in the new model.
The reason you can't see your DQ queries in your new model is because they don't exist there at all. They exist in the model you're connecting to and can only be viewed/edited there.
Without fully understanding what you're trying to achieve and what access you have to the other model, it's difficult to say exactly how to resolve this, but it appears as though you need to add your SharePoint data into the other model that you're connecting to, rather than trying to bolt it onto the model data in a new model.
