Direct Query and Excel date

Hi , it is possible to use direct query mode and still use old date from excel table? I have static date from 2015(excel table) and need to compare with new date from 2016 and i want to use direct query mode not imported mode.

@daleksandrov when connecting to excel you only have option of importing and not directquery.
