Create Power BI service like Azure SQL Database

Hi,

I'm trying to evaluate, if it is possible to create a power BI Service like Azure SQL Database or Spark on Azure HDInsight that uses live querys to collect data over an web service. So I don't want to create a dataset that is refreshed regular with max Size of 250 MB. The services should be used by all people in my organisation (like one of the existing services SalesForce etc. ) and integrated into the Power BI App. Every time one of the users builds or uses a report the Power BI App shall contact a Azure Webservice that returns the needed Data.

Is this possible ?

@lloetters It seems like you want you create your own custom SAAS connector something like Azure connectors/direct query thus forming a secure connection for data transfer. You can contact Microsoft team for any kind of custom connectors to integrate into Power BI. I have tried connecting them but no response 😞

I too am interested in connecting Power BI to our Saas service. I'd like to replace / enhance our reporting functionality and point our 1500+ clients to Power BI instead. 

Anyone on the Power BI team interested in a conversation?

Sounds like you want to create your own gateway similar to how the Analysis Services Gateway, is that what you are thinking?
