All of our existing PBI Reports are based on direct SQL Azure DB connections. Is there a way of switching these over to use Azure Analysis Service without having to recreate every report from scratch again? In other words, is there a way to change the data source from SQL Azure DB to Azure Analysis Service within a Desktop project? If not, and if we are required to start a new PBI project based on Azure Analysis Services as the data source, is there a way to copy all the reports over from one project to another?
Hi @mbhunt,
You can create a new .pbix file to get data from Azure Analysis Services database, check if retrieved tables and contained fields are the exactly same as when you retrieve from the SQL Server database. If it is the same, then you can copy the Power Query in this new .pbix to replace Power Query in original report. If not, then it's not possible to change data source and keep the report display.
Besides, we are not able to copy the reports from on .pbix file to another currently.

Hi @v-qiuyu-msft,
Can you please tell me how "you can copy the Power Query in this new .pbix to replace Power Query in original report."?
Thanks much,
Matt
Hi Qiuyun Yu,
Yes, the retrieved tables and contained feilds are exactly the same!
Can you elaborate on HOW to copy in the Power Query in this new .pbix? Or direct me to article explaining how?
Thanks much,
Matt
