Hi,
on my local machine I've Windows 10 64-bit and pbi desktop 64-bit.
I need to access to an Oracle database (Oracle database 18c XE) hosted on my machine.
I've noticed the message about the Oracle.DataAccess.Client is not installed and so I've followed this article:
So, I've installed 64-bit ODAC 12c Release 4 (12.1.0.2.4) Xcopy for Windows x64 (ODAC122010Xcopy_x64.zip file),
but when I try to create an Oracle PQ query I see the same message error. The control about the existence of
the Oracle client should precede the existence of the Oracle database, isn't it?
Any suggests to me in order to solve this issue, please? Thanks
Hi @Anonymous
Does my solution work? Are you able to connect to Oracle database now?

Hi @Anonymous
Did you add related Oracle paths to the environment variable Path on your machine? This might be the cause. See Having a bad day for oracle client installation error message with Power BI? | by Vaman Nayak | Medium. This article may be helpful.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I've followed the suggested article. I've uninstalled and re-installed the 64-bit ODAC 12c Release 4 (12.1.0.2.4) Xcopy for Windows x64 and I've added the Oracle paths.
The message about the Oracle.DataAccess.Client is not installed doesn't appare longer.
Now, how can I try an Oracle connection on my machine with PBI desktop? I've the Oracle database 18c XE installation and I obtain an errore message about an object reference not set on an object instance.
Thanks
Hi @Anonymous
Did you download the Power BI Desktop from the Microsoft Store? If so, try uninstalling it and downloading Power BI Desktop from the Download Center instead of Microsoft Store. See Connect to an Oracle database with Power BI Desktop - Power BI
