Connecting API in Power Query?

Hi

I am a newbie to Power BI and learning a lot with the help of this awesome community. I am coming from a non-computer science background and understanding the API is challenging for me. 

I have API documentation and I understand it needs to be connected by writing custom queries in Power Query editor. I referred to other community posts and sites but with no success. 

Could anyone show me the right articles or anyone providing services on this. Happy to learn
