Hi All,
Im sure this is probably on the forum somewhere but im stuggling to find any information as to what configurations need to be in place on your SQL Server to allow you to add an SQL database as a data source.
Im quite comfortable with adding an SQL database as a data source in Power BI and have done so with success using databases whereby i have been provided the necesary details but i cant seem to find any information on what configuration is required for a SQL database that i host on-premise to allow the connection to be made.
Quite new to this so apologies for what is probably quite a basic question.
Many Thanks
You need to use a gateway. From the Service, upper right, down arrow icon, Power BI Gateways. It will take you to a page to download either the Personal Gateway or Enterprise Gateway. You will need a Pro account for it to work properly.
