Changing DB source but using template

I have been working on creating certain visualizations and features but using the dev database.

I want to connect to another DB which has the real-data, it has the same tables and structure, but I want to make it functional on this new DB.

I tried using parameters but I'm not sure this is the way.

Also, I have a Blob storage to connect to as well.

Do I create a template from my existing .pbix and then use parameters?

Could use some help! Thank you!

You can just replace the datasource.

Or if you want create a parameter, see examples:

Hi @CarlaGh ,

You need to create a parameter that would point on your database (Power Query), then save your report as a power bi model (pbit), after that whenever you will open that pbit file you will be asked to paste the database path.

You have to make sure that the credentials used on the prod database are the same as the dev otherwise you would need to create parameters also for them.

A kudos would be appreciated
