Hi all,
hope someone can help. We didn't use to have this problem but it suddenly occurs now.
We have exchange rates coming in as text and they don't convert to numbers anymore. Our settings are as recommended (use . as decimal point). However, if I change '.' to ',' it starts to work. This seems like a bug, maybe after some Power BI update? Does anyone else face this?
We have the 2023 September version of Power BI.
Thanks,
Ruta

Hi Ruta,
The settings that you have referenced are for DAX formulas, nothing to do with Power Query.
PQ formats are governed by the Regional settings. Go to File > Options & Settings > Options and check your setup here:
...and here:
Note that you will have to close down Power BI Desktop and restart it for Regional Settings changes to take effect.

Hi Ruta,
Unlikely to be a bug to be honest.
Try selecting your [ExchangeRate] column and going to the Transform tab > Format > Trim (and/or 'Clean') BEFORE your step to change the data type.

Hi Pete,
I have tried this and it is the same outcome. Not converting with a '.' but converting with a ',' but in the settings it is set to have '.' as decimal separator.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Ruta
