Hi
I was able to use PowerBI gateway to connect my local test MySQL DB from Windows to online reports for data refresh.
But the thing is I want to connect my live MySQL DB from Linux to online PowerBI for data refresh.
Is there anyway can I achieve this?
Thanks
Jonty
Hello,
I am facing the similar issue as Jonty's. Our MySQL db is running on a Linux server. At the moment, am running the whole PowerBI suite on my laptop. I managed to connect to the live data via Putty. Data refresh only works if Putty is active. If Putty is inactive, the connection to the live data fails.
I wonder if there is a way that Power BI connects to MySQL db running on a Linux server without having to rely on third party tool like Putty?
Thanks.
Hi,
I am not sure about this. As per comments in this post, power bi service refresh from Linux MySQL DB should be possible.
But I found other posts which says it's not possible.
Requirements to install the on-premise gateway, Windows:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-onprem
As per this idea, looks like it's not possible now:

Can anyone confirm if this is possible?
Thanks
Are you running into a particular issue when doing this? I can't think of a reason this shouldn't work if you use the Desktop and specify to use database credentials.
Hi, wanted to follow up and see if this scenario worked for you. If it did, please mark the thread as solved.
