Advanced Editor SQL Query - Direct or Import

After running the SQL for the first time in Import or Direct, is advanved editor the only location to perform edits ?

How would one get to the SQL Import/Direct mode window which is much easier for query edits.

Advanced editor syntax is difficult to cope up with where it adds (#IF) , (IF)...

Any tips on how to just replace the entire SQL in advanced editor with edited one ?

Are you looking to change from direct to import or just change the SQL query? 

If it's the latter, you can make changes in the Applied Steps inside the Power Query Editor - just click on the Source step and click the settings cog next to it. This will bring up the SQL Server Database options window again and allow you to change the Advanced options SQL statement. 

You can also look at the 'Data Source Settings' option in the drop down under Transform Data - this will enable you to change the settings for all queries of the same source, rather than having to go into each query's source step and change there. Just depends what you're trying to change.
