Hi @EapenZ ,

Thanks for reaching out to our community. Here're the steps you can try to troubleshotting:

  1. Check Account Type: Ensure that you're using the correct account type. If the app is specifically for work or school, it might not accept personal accounts.

  2. Check on computer device: Check whether your account can successfully sign in to Power BI Service on your computer.
  3. Clear App Data: Sometimes, clearing the app's data can help. Go to your phone's settings, find the app, and clear its data and cache.

  4. Update the App: Make sure the app is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, older versions might have bugs or compatibility issues.

  5. Reinstall the App: Uninstall the app and then reinstall it. This can sometimes resolve login issues.

Best Regards,

Stephen Tao

POWER BI is only available through a work or school account. You can access on both a PC and Android/Apple devices. You cannot access POWER BI with a PERSONAL account - even if you've purchased a 365 subscroption.

Hello,

These steps do not solve the issue.

I have a paid Microsoft 365 PERSONAL Subscription. I have downloaded the PowerBI desktop and am able to login successfully. I go to my ANDROID tablet and phone and download the "Microsoft Power BI" app, the ONLY OPTION AVAILABLE. I attempt to login with my PERSONAL email and get the error message for "work or school account".

I have the Microsodt 365 (Office) app installed on my tablet and phone, and am able to access with my PERSONAL email account. I have cleared cache and data on both Microsoft 365 and Power BI. I can login to Microsoft 365 successfully, but not PowerBI. Has Microsoft not done the work to make PowerBI accessible on Android devices via the app? Going to a browser to app.powerbi.com will not allow me to access on my phone or tablet either.

I SUSPECT MICROSOFT has not done the work to make PowerBI accessible on mobile devices (tablets/phones) via Microsoft 365 PERSONAL subscriptions.

  • I CAN access PowerBI:
    • On my PC/Book PC/Laptop,etc. via the desktop app using the FREE PowerBI license provided by my STUDENT account, which uses my student ".edu" email.
    • On my Android and Apple mobile devices (tablet, phone)
  • I CANNOT access PowerBI
    • On my PC/Book PC via the desktop app using the FREE PowerBI license provided by my PERSONAL Microsoft 365 subscription, which uses my personal "gmail, yahoo, hotmail, whatever" email.
    • On my Android and Apple mobile devices (tablet, phone)

The only way to access POWERBI on a mobile device is with a STUDENT or WORK email address. You are not allowed to sign up to or download software for personal use with your work email. So you're only option for mobile POWERBI is as a COLLEGE STUDENT. Usually, college email is forever, even though you are no longer a student. So if you have an old account, dust it off. If you've been meaning to take a course or two that gives you a school email address - take the course to get the school email address. You can use that email for all sorts of discounts (myuni.com for example).;
