Hi All,
A client of mine is using PowerBI Embedded Analytics to load a PowerBI iframe widget onto their website. We were wondering what our options are for tracking widget interactions and whether or not we can add a GTM container code snippet into the widget so that we can forward the widget interactions to our GA4 account.
I was testing in the embedded analytics playground and there are specific event handlers for interacting with these widgets. Does this mean we can easily embed GTM code snippet into the header of each widget and then send events on those interactions using the event handlers from the API? Our plan was then going to be to leverage https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Window/postMessage to send events to the parent page of the Iframe.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
Kyle
Hi Kyle,
Similar case studies seem to pose difficulties for me.
PowerBI Embedded reports are embedded in my website, and I use Pendo as my tracking system.
It was impossible to track widgets within a PowerBI report.
Are you successful in managing it?
Best regards,
Yoav.
Hi Liu, thanks for your response.
Do you have any blogs/articles that relate to tracking iframe widget interactions in 3rd party analytics platforms?
