Question: Does PowerBI support filter parameters so that when the data is queried (prior to it being displayed for the user), those filters are applied to the SQL data being retrieved?
Scenario: A mobile (Azure) app that is accessed by multiple customers. Can dashboards be designed, so based on something in the user's login or other configurable information, the dashboards will use that information when querying the data to be displayed, so that no customer accidentally can access another customer's data, including in lookup lists on the dashboard?
I know that data can be post-filtered (after it's been retrieved from the database.) I supposed separate dashboards & URL's could be provided per customer. I was just wondering if a single dashboard can achieve that purpose, but if so it would have to be able to pre-filter the data so no other customer's data was even retrieved from SQL Server.
Thanks,
Randy

Hey @wittr9876,
I believe that what you are looking is Row Level Security (RLS) - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-rls.
And yes, Power BI supports RLS.

I've yet to find a solution to this as I am looking for this exact functionality. SSRS can do it with ease. Why Power BI can't is beyond backwards.
Is there any way other than RLS? The customer don't have access to Power BI service. So is there any way, where I can filter the data based on the customer and they cannot view other's data.
