As of today, December 17, 2024, there is a pretty big limitation for using Mirroring for Azure SQL Databases within Microsoft Fabric:
Currently, Mirroring doesn't support Azure SQL Database logical servers behind an Azure Virtual Network or private networking. If you have your Azure Database instance behind a private network, you can't enable Azure SQL Database mirroring.
There's no way I'm going to get CTO support for implementing Mirroring if I need to enable public network access for the primary read-write database (source: Limitations and Behaviors for Fabric Mirrored Databases From Azure SQL Database - Microsoft Fabric |...).
Therefore, when can we expect this feature so that we can plan accordingly?
Thank you!

The current public roadmap doesn't mention the support for mirroring Azure SQL DB behind virtual or private networks. It seems this feature may not be available in the short term. There is a similar idea at Fabric Ideas Forum, you may vote it up via Microsoft Idea: Database mirroring - private network support
Microsoft is always rolling out new features in Fabric, so keep an eye on the official blog for the latest feature updates.

Thank you very much, Jing! Hopefully it gets added to the public roadmap as it would save a lot of time to solve the ingestion piece of ELT within Azure.
