System dataverse tables cant be linked to via shortcut

Shortcuts in fabric initially looked to be a massive time saver if the datasource was primarily a dataverse.
We quickly found only some tables are available, in particular system tables are not.
e.g. msdyncrm_marketingemailactivity, although listed as a "standard" table in power apps UI, is a system table and so is not available for shortcut.

There are many tables like this.

Its another example of a potentially great feature in fabric being released half baked.
Besides normal routes of creating a data pipeline to replicate the data in a lakehouse or warehouse, are there any other simpler options that I am missing here?

Hi @wilson_smyth ,

You’re definitely not alone in noticing this! Right now, system tables in Dataverse (like the one you mentioned) unfortunately aren’t supported for Fabric shortcuts. It can be pretty frustrating, especially when they show up in the UI but aren’t actually available to use.

As of today, there isn’t really a “shortcut” (pun intended) around this—replicating the data through a pipeline or exporting to a lake/warehouse is still the main route. I know it’s not ideal, but Microsoft hasn’t enabled direct shortcut access for those system tables yet.

If you want to avoid building a full pipeline, some folks have used Power Automate flows or custom connectors to pull limited data on a schedule, but that’s more of a workaround than a real solution.

Hopefully, with enough feedback, Microsoft will expand shortcut support to cover system tables soon. If you haven’t already, it might help to add your vote or comment to relevant ideas on the Fabric/Power Platform feedback pages.

If I hear about any new tricks or updates for this, I’ll reply back here!

Let me know if you want more details on any of the workarounds.
