Refresh Error

I have a report that contains 2 data sources. 1 is a SQL Server data source and the other is csv. There is no need to refresh the csv data source, so I selected the disable refresh option. The SQL Data source must be refreshed.

The refresh section in the semantic model is disabled.

There is an error during refresh:

Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources. Then reactivate scheduled refresh.

How can I schedule a refresh for the model?

Hi @AllanRosner

Similar kind of issue I'm also faced. So, to schedule the refresh for your SQL server database,  you need to configure credentials for all data sources in the dataset., even for that your csv file, even though refresh optuion is disabled.

So, once the credentials are authenticated for both sources, you can reactivate scheduled refresh for the SQL Server source in the dataset settings. You can go to settigns of your sematicmodel, you will see 2 data sources and you can authenticate the settings for both, if your data is in on-0premises, you need ot configure your on-premises gateway.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you!!

In Power BI, all data sources in a semantic model must have valid credentials, even if:

  • Refresh is disabled for one of them (your CSV), or

  • That source never actually changes.

If any source has missing credentials, scheduled refresh is blocked for the entire model.
