Publishing Jupyter Notebooks to Fabric by pipeline

Hello everyone,

We would like to automate the process of pushing Jupyter Notebook files (ipynb) to the Fabric workspace.

The idea is to commit the Jupyer notebooks to some GIT repository and trigger a pipeline, that pushes the files to the Fabric workspace/GIT repository. Currently it seems, that Fabric cannot work with the ipynb format directly, when they are residing in the linked GIT repository. The import process seems to translate the files in some Fabric specific format  ("<NotebookName>.Notebook" Folder containing 3 files).

Is there a straight forward way known/planned to publish ipynb files to Fabric using GIT/pipelines?

Currently we would probably have to use the REST API.

Best reagards,

Marc

Hi @gmarc
Apologies for the delay in response. Currently we do not have information regarding the availability of publishing ipynb files to Fabric using GIT/pipelines. Existing Notebook files(.ipynb) can be imported into a Fabric workspace using REST API. This is only option available for now.
Manage and execute Fabric notebooks with public APIs - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

You can submit a feature request to Microsoft Fabric team suggesting for the required option. This helps inform us about user needs and may influence future updates.

I request you please share the feedback on our feedback channel . Which would be open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows our product teams to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and gives insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further queries.
