How to access GPT-4o using Fabric Azure OpenAI REST API

Hi everyone,

In Microsoft Learn's "Overview of AI services in Fabric" page (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-science/ai-services/ai-services-overview), GPT-4o is shown as an option which can be accessed in Fabric (alongside GPT-4 and 3.5)

However, the detail pages on how to access OpenAI models using a Fabric Notebook (e.g.,  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-science/ai-services/how-to-use-openai-via-rest-api) then goes on to only show the syntax for accessing GPT-4 and 3.5, but NOT GPT-4o. I'm really quite keen to use GPT-4o over GPT-4 given how much better (and cheaper!) it is... anyone have idea whether it can be done through Fabric?

Hi @LeonKong123,

Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Community Forum.

Still GPT-4o is not fully documented on how to access it via the REST API.

1. Since GPT-4o might still be in the preview or newly integrated, it’s possible that documentation updates are yet to cover it fully. Keep checking the official Microsoft Fabric or OpenAI documentation for new release notes or tutorials on using GPT-4o.

2.As of now, you can access GPT-4 using the documented REST API in Fabric Notebooks. You might try using that same syntax and see if GPT-4o is accessible through the same API endpoint, as it could be an additional model under the same REST API.
