How can I add Fabric One Lake as datasource for Azure AI Search?

Hello.

I am trying to implement a POC with the purpose of levering Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI Search.

I want to leverage Fabric's OneLake concept to centralize my data and allow data science + analysis tools to be used on top of it.

At the same time, I want to have a Search page where clients can query the data. In order to accomplish that, I want to use Azure AI Search and leverage features such as relevancy ranking, stemming, etc.

However, I am not entirely sure how can I index data within Fabric. Anyone can support me on this?

You can now. The trick is you have to use the ABFS url to OneLake in Azure AI Search. Also note, Azure AI Search cannot read CSV or Delta Parquet file formats. Sooo, not sure how useful this is at the moment.

Outcome is that they don't support OneLake as a datasource. You would need to create your own data lake and connect both to Azure AI Search and OneLake.

But also a bit disappointed in the promise that OneLake would be the only source....

Yeah, I was disappointed too... However, I am certain it is in their roadmap to include it as a datasource. It's a matter of when.
